I'll answer the second question first. If your printer is out of
warranty, then they want your credit card # and wil bill you to speak
with a tech. Last time I hit that roadblock they wanted $25.00 and I
hung up. And I don't know of a number for free, out of warranty tech
advise. People wanted cheaper printers, so now they pay if they need
help.
As for the error, a 49.xx error can frequently be a failed JetDirect
card. I'm not familiar with the 9050, but if it's got a plug in type
card, it's likely bad. If it's a 615N card, it's definitely bad,
whether it's failed yet or not. There have been several service notes
on the 615N, so if that's the isse, they may possibly be sending a
card. I have no idea what a "Compaq Flash Module" would be in an HP
printer.
