Hi,

I have a client's HP Laserjet 2300D. Randomly, the printer makes a
whining/groaning noise and then jams. The leading edge of the page is
actually right between the upper delivery rollers and not out enough to
grab it. I can actually turn the rollers and turn the paper out enogh
to snag it. There are no obstructions there. The rest of that page is
accordian jammed inside the rear cover, just like the typical Laserjet
4 issue. Also, there is a page sitting under the toner.

It does this while duplexing OR single sided printing. Sometimes, it
will print 100-200 pages fine before it happens, and sometimes every 10-
15 pages. As part of normal maintenance, I have replaced both feed
rollers and separation pads, which I dont believe to be related to this
issue as it was happening before.

Any ideas? I just hate to start replacing all of the delivery rollers
just to try it.

Merrill

Have had a few film type fusers have the film slow or stop on occasion - the
grease gets contaminated from outside things like industrial dirt, or the
grease itself gets gummy - disassembly, cleaning of the heating element and
liberal regreasing fixes it.

Hi Merrill, The main body of people have moved to another site. I haven't been able to find them. I will try to help you. First I would take off the rear and side covers. remove the fuser and check all the gears and look closely for missing teeth on the output assembly. This will cause the drive to the output rollers to stop turning and therefore jam the paper and accordian it as the top rollers have stopped but the paper is still being pushed by the fuser. Also check to see if the output rollers are turning all the time.
Hope this helps.
