So far, gcj 3.4.6, has been the most stable of all gcjs I've
tried. If there
is a gcj 3.4.x for FreeBSD, trying it is a good idea.

That is a question for java gcc.gnu.org but the short
answer is that the gcj
ports are moving in different directions at different speeds
on different
platforms.
FreeBSD is not a platform I see much talked about on that
gcj mailing list.
You might want to inquire about that port there for more
information.
