PyLucene mentioned

Just as a curious FYI.  PyLucene was mentioned by a couple
programmers  
who are thinking of writing an adapter to allow different
back-end  
search engines be used by front-end web folks:

Hi Mike. Funny I just read this fellow's blog yesterday. I
think the 
idea is a good one to provide a general api for frameworks.
On the other 
hand, I think it worth the investment to know Lucene more
intimately 
since it is a tool with substantial capability.
