New - Can't use external GUI Diff tool

If I go to File -> Preferences -> Diff Tool and change
it to an External GUI
Diff Tool mode and use "meld" and "%nl
%nr" for configuration, then click OK,
and then diff a file, the Workbench diff tool still pops up.
If I go back to
File -> Preferences -> Diff Tool after that, the mode
is set back to "Work Bench
Diff" again. It doesn't seem to save the preference
change. So far, I have only
tested this on Linux. Has anyone else had this problem on
other platforms?

Hang on a sec... I think I just figured something out. I
went to View ->
External GUI Diff Tool and now that that is checked, meld is
popping up when I
diff something. I think I just misunderstood how things
work. Oops, sorry about
that.

This definitely isn't a defect then... but perhaps I could
suggest an
enhancement. Maybe if the user goes into the preferences and
selects the GUI
diff tool, configures it and then clicks OK, the checkmark
under the View menu
could be set to GUI diff tool as well. Or perhaps there is
some other method
that could be used to prevent the possible confusion that I
experienced. Just a
thought.

I think it would confuse some people that when they fill in
details for
an optional diff program the view choices change.
