Issue #212 has been updated by Luis Lavena.
As Federico suggested, has nothing to do with the terminal
emulation or console being used, but with the shared object
being involved.
If you do a full GNU Readline linkage instead, the error
goes away. I think is related to the macros it tries during
the build process of the readline extension and the
have_readline_header("editline/readline.h") and
have_library("edit", "readline").
