I have downloaded jre6u3 from Sun and installed it. I still get the
same message. Do I need to uninstall something or make changes to any
files or the PATH? (I attempted to uninstall java 1.5.0 but saw that
many of my used programs would be affected due to dependencies so
aborted that process).

I am installing the jre-6u3-linux-amd64-rpm.bin file from Sun.
