"stuck" folder

My synchronize view shows a folder as an outgoing change,
though I don't think 
it's any different than it was.  It's empty.  When I
attempted to commit or 
revert it, it was still there.

Now I've got it where the sync view says I have an outgoing
deletion, but the 
directory still exists on the local file system.  I cannot
revert the 
outgoing deletion, instead gettting...

    Failed to revert <full-path> try updating instead.

in the console.  Updating doesn't change the problem.
