The existing icons are fine.

I would really dislike fewer icons. I don't read the
menus, I use the
icons as a visual cue of what to select.

I do a non-trivial amount of my work in TortoiseSVN. And
yes, I
appreciate the similarity.
All that said, if someone had a different set of icons, I
could get used
to it fairly easily. However, don't go changing them
frequently.
And to re-iterate, I would find a loss of icons to be a
significant
reduction in functionality. I don't see how leaving them
in would harm
functionality of Subclipse. Unfortunately for those
complaining,
whether they are "beautiful" or not, they _are_
functional and useful to
me.
