Opening Tkinter widgets in remote displays

Are permissions handled the same as Unix on OS X? I remember
you had to do 
something using the xhost command. Check if this is so.
Another 
possibility is the configuration of the graphic server,
which I don't know 
to what extent is compatible with X11.
