Cordless phones linked to increased risk of brain tumours
Never mind the health scares over mobile phones - the more direct
danger could be the cordless landline in your home.
New research reported this week in the Daily Mail shows the base
stations of some cordless phones emit twice as much radiation as a
mobile phone mast.
Electromagnetic fields of up to six volts per metre were discovered at
close range, compared with safe levels of 0.05 volts.
Unlike mobile phones, the base stations put out radiation even when
they are not in use, the study by Swedish scientists showed.
The findings may show that digital enhanced cordless telephones (DECT)
put people at risk of brain tumours, say campaign groups. They also
back-up recent research published by What Doctors Don't Tell You.
"If you have a DECT with a base station in your house then you are
filling your home with pulsing microwaves," said Alasdair Philips, of
environmental pressure group Powerwatch.
Cordless phones are just one example of the plethora of household and
workplace devices that are increasing your daily exposure to
electro-magnetic radiation to more than 500 times the safe limit.
