Did you connect power to all power-inlets on the mobo? Some
mobos have more
than one power-inlet.
Anyway, the problems you describe are almost similar to
those that I have at
work. Nine times out of then it's the PSU. Try borrowing,
or buy a new one -
it'll last forever anyway , quality
PSU with at least 300W (400+
recommended) and try with that one.
I've had problems with new PSUs too. In all cases it was a
budget or midrange
PSU. Never had any problems with Antecs, Zalman or Enermax.
Also PSUs older
than approx six years or more tend to last longer, ie before
the era of
monstrous gfx-cards and power-consuming CPUs. Eg, I have
several PII and P1s
that still work with their orginal PSU and most components.
They double as
firewall appliances and web-servers. My firewall appliance I
have at home is
an old dell dimension P2/350. Works like a charm and has
done so for a few
years now.
Since january this year I've exchanged a dozen or so PSUs
on two to three year
old "normal" PCs/workstations. All of them were
what was delivered as
"standard", ie midrange to budget 300W Hecs,
Powercolor(?) and Yangchang (or
some such) noname PSUs.
A failing PSU is number one on the
computer-won't-start-syndrome. Number two
is a bad HD shared with a broken cpu-fan, and number three
and far below is a
overheated/burned CPU (sometimes a consequence of number
two).
'Nuff said, you get what you pay for. YMMV though.
