Mmm, could be but on the other hand installing the nic
driver is pretty
helpful . I'm
really ready for the weekend now.
Thanks for your help.

Check the DNS on the server, it could be a tombstoned
reference, also
you could change the name of the pc and then try again. I
suspect the
old machine account is referenced still in the DNS?

Thanks Dan. I have reinstalled WinXP SP2 now. I am now
getting the
following error when I try to join our domain:
-------------------begin error
message------------------------- The
domain name <ourdomain> might be a NetBIOS domain
name. If this is the
case, verify that the domain name is properly registered
with WINS.
If you are certain that the name is not a NetBIOS domain
name, then the
following information can help you troubleshoot your DNS
configuration.
An error occurred when DNS was queried for the service
location (SRV)
resource record used to locate a domain controller for
domain
<ourdomain>.
The error was: "No DNS servers configured for local
system."
(error code 0x0000267C DNS_ERROR_NO_DNS_SERVERS)
The query was for the SRV record for
_ldap._tcp.dc._msdcs.<ourdomain>
For more information, click Help.
------------------end error
message----------------------------
I have googled around for this but no help. I have ip
settings for our
dns server entered and the ip for this computer will given
by dhcp.
Any ideas? Is this a winxp issue? All other machines on
our domain are
working fine.
Thanks for the help!!
Ron

Hi Ron
There's this but you'd need to get to the desktop?
http://support

Other than that you could just reinstall, or is that not an
option?
Cheers
Dan

Subject: [windows2000] STOP error after Windows XP upgrade
Good Morning,
I was using the verifier.exe tool to verify some drivers and
it prompted
me to re-boot. I did and after that the system would appear
to boot
fine until it got to the desktop and then the system reboots
itself. It
continues this cycle.
Well, I thought let's try to re-install Windows XP. I chose
the upgrade
option. Everything seemed to be going well and then during
the reboot I
received the following:
A device driver attempting to corrupt the system has been
caught. The
faulty driver currently on the kernel stack must be replaced
with a
working version.
...
STOP: 0x000000C4
(0x00000060,0x00000000,0x00000090,0x00000003)
The system will not allow me to boot into safe mode because
it says it
is in setup mode.
How can I remove the faulty driver?
Thanks for the help. I am pretty desperate at this point!!
Ron
