Hi,

The wmlbrowser plugin works great, but it does not support downloads. For testing mobile applications it would be great if it would be possible to do over the air downloads via Firefox to the PC instead of going through the real device all the time.

Do you have any examples where this might fail? I can't
think of any
reason why it wouldn't work.

Hi Gottfried,

Are you talking about handling OMA DownloadDescriptors, as
well as
handling the various other download descriptor formats
(JAD, GCD,
download fun) that various mobile handsets use?

It might be worth considering simply implementing them as a
simple sh
script (or $favourite_scripting_language) that understands
the formats
involved, and having that as a handler for the various
content types,
rather than building it into the WML browser.

[Received by email:]
What I am doing is downloading a jad/jar from a repository
site of our
publisher. So unfortunately I cannot give you the access
information.

Basically what happens is that you login to the site, select
a couple of
options in dialogues that influence the created .jad file.
Then you get
a download button that lets you download the jar to your
phone normally.
Both Opera and WinWap would then download the .jad file to
the PC when
you click the download button, but the Wmlbrowser plugin
basically
doesn't do anything. Ideally you would get a dialogue that
lets you save
both .jad and .jar to a destination on your PC. Problem is
that WinWap
is commercial and Opera has glitches and does not display
all options in
the configuration dialogues.

[my response:]

Is it possible to do a "view source" on the page
to show what's
happening here?

Anything that happens server-side should "just
work".
