Getting EVT_MOTION when I don't expect it

I found a solution, although it's not one that I am
inclined to discuss in
public.  When I get the EVT_LEFT_DOWN event, I record the
physical position
of the mouse hit with event.GetPosition().  Whenever the
event handler for
EVT_MOTION runs, it compares its mouse position with the one
recorded
previously in the handler for left down.  If they are the
same, the handler
returns.  Ugly, but it seems to work.
